In late 2008 I decided I needed to get in better shape and started running again.  I ran my first formal road race ever, a half marathon, in late 2009.

My name is Wes, I'm married with two wonderful children. The nickname BaldNSpicy came from the fact that I have been balding for a (long) while now and spicy for my love of very spicy foods (Thai and extremely hot wings are my favorites).  If eating doesn't bring me near tears and leave me sweating, it's not worth eating.  :-)

Oh, and I'm also known for my doorags.

Running 101 class tonight.  It's a good thing I have this class to force me to get out for a run.

Headed down to the gym early and got in some warm up.  Ran a little over 2mi on the TM then about 5mins on the rowing machine. Tonight's workout was running 20mins then about 10mins of speed workout.  I was a little tired, so I didn't go too hard on the 20 min run and just stuck with the faster runners (10:00 pace or so).  Then we did 1/4mi laps around the point starting out at a reasonable pace and continually picking it up until the end.  Those went well, I was finishing at about 7:15-7:30 pace.  Some sprints across the point (100m or so) hitting a 5:40 or better pace.  Then one final lap - I pushed it and did it in 1:50.

I'm not sure I'm "ready" for the 10k in a week or so, but I think it will go OK.  Just keepin' on keepin' on.

Well, no running today, but I had to react to a "crisis" and had to bike from home to where my daughter works to pick up the car.  Darn hills!

It was only a little over 5 miles, but I swear it was practically all up hill.  I was beat.  Good thing I didn't have to bike back or it would have been all up hill too!
