2013 Races:

May - Pittsburgh Marathon (started, but DNF about the half way point)
June - Riverview 5k  - Bummed I missed signing up for this one. It's one of my favorites!
Sept - Gatorade/Steelers 5k. (Signed up!)
Sept - IKEA Montour Trail Half  (prob not, but leaving it on here)
Sept - The Great Race 10k (My Running 101 goal race)
Nov - Dirt Monster 5mi (Gotta do it again no matter what!)

Long-Term Running Goals:

Finish recovering from my injuries and build mileage.  That is all.

Personal:

My name is Wes, I'm married with two wonderful children. The nickname BaldNSpicy came from the fact that I have been balding for a (long) while now and spicy for my love of very spicy foods (Thai and extremely hot wings are my favorites).  If eating doesn't bring me near tears and leave me sweating, it's not worth eating.  :-)

Oh, and I'm also known for my doorags.

Went to the track and did some 800m intervals.  Tried to keep the rest pace at 9:00, the speed pace at 8:00, no rest between.  Walked once for 100m.

Splits:  4:29, 3:59, 4:30, 4:00, 4:27, 3:59

Thanks to the Garmin, I kept it almost right on target.  Walked 600m & then stretched.

Nice Splits Wes! I remember doing those workouts in high school and college and hated them. 800's were always the worst workouts.

Wow, you nailed it - that's a fun game to play with Garmin isn't it?

From baldnspicy on Fri, Jul 30, 2010 at 23:31:13 from 72.77.105.241

Missee - I have no idea. I love the Garmin. I just run in the outside lane and let the Garmin tell me when I hit my 800m splits. Plus, since I'm not that great at estimating pace yet, I can look down periodically and see my pace instantly. I LOVE it!

Steve - The 800s don't bother me as much. I haven't done any 400s, but I've done the mile with an 800 or so between. The longer intervals are better for me, I think, because I'm not fast. But maybe that's why I should be doing 400s vs. longer?

Slow - Totally. It's always a game with me. On the track, I think it's awesome. I haven't convinced anyone to come and shout out splits to me, so the Garmin has to be my coach.
