Sept 30 - The Great Race 10k (route)  (53:48)
Nov 3 - The Dirt Monster 5mi (52:55)

2013 Races:

May - Pittsburgh Marathon (started, but DNF about the half way point)
June - Riverview 5k  - Bummed I missed signing up for this one. It's one of my favorites!
Sept - Gatorade/Steelers 5k. (Signed up!)
Sept - IKEA Montour Trail Half  (prob not, but leaving it on here)
Sept - The Great Race 10k (My Running 101 goal race)
Nov - Dirt Monster 5mi (Gotta do it again no matter what!)

Long-Term Running Goals:

Finish recovering from my injuries and build mileage.  That is all.

Personal:

My name is Wes, I'm married with two wonderful children. The nickname BaldNSpicy came from the fact that I have been balding for a (long) while now and spicy for my love of very spicy foods (Thai and extremely hot wings are my favorites).  If eating doesn't bring me near tears and leave me sweating, it's not worth eating.  :-)

Oh, and I'm also known for my doorags.

Signed up for the Pittsburgh Marathon training at work today.  I guess that means I'm back....

Well, I'm finally making my 2012 debut.  I signed up for my employer sponsored Marathon Training Program last week.  I signed up for the full, but after a few days of thinking about it, I don't think I'll be ready to do it the first week of May.  I could try, but trying to build mileage in 16 weeks or so would just result in injury.  So, I think I'll stick with a solid half and see how it goes.

Got in 3k today in 20:00 which was about all the time I had, but was about all my legs could do.  I'm looking at a few races in the next couple months to get me motivated again and get some miles under my belt before the training officially starts next month (I think).

I'm just happy to be back, happy to be able to spend some time catching up on a few race reports, and just thinking about running again.

...

No, I can't stop my post quite yet.  I hopped on one of the new treadmills at our gym at work.  Pretty freakin sweet, but not what I was going to say.  I'm about a mile into my run, just kinda watching everyone.  The music is jammin' and on comes the song I'm Sexy and I Know It...or at least that's what I think it's called.  I had to wonder...how many of those people in the gym right then thought the song was about them??  The things that make you go hmm!

I'm counting a mile for two reasons:

1)  I had to jog from work to where I park which is just over a mile.  But I walked some...

2)  ...but more importantly, the family went to The Rink at PPG Place to do some ice skating and I didn't have a season ending fall.  None of us are skilled skaters, so we all got off lucky.

Had a great time and due to my crazy schedule, I even got a jog in as well.

It snowed today...first time shoveling this season.  I need to find an off-season snow shoveling training program.  I felt like a linebacker at the first day of training camp.  I may try this one out next time it snows

Squeezed in a couple at the gym before they closed. Not fast, but miles just the same.

Nothing like a 63.0 mi week to make you feel like you made the right decision to sign up for the full marathon in May!

I have to decide this weekend if I'm doing the full or the half.  Gotta sign up and pay for it.  Would anyone put money on me being able to train for and finish the full the first week of May?  If no one would, I'm switching to the half.  :-)
